New Tile: Week of October 1
Good day, fellow tile fanatics.
Two weeks have flown by, leaving in its wake a slew of antique tiles heading to homes from coast to coast. We’ve shipped off tiles to Brooklyn, Austin, San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Calhoun, Georgia.
This week, we finalize a nearly year-long project for a historic home in East Hampton, NY. In addition to five custom fireplace designs, we’re supplying nearly 600 square feet of historic tiles for a 19th-century orangerie shipped stateside from France.
What does that mean for us? Well, we’ll be delivering a couple tons of relic tiles, hauling them through the Poconos, bobbing and weaving as we navigate Gotham’s automotive labyrinth, safely coming out the other end to drive 100 more miles out the Long Island Expressway. If only Billy Joel wrote about long-haul trucking—New York State of Mind meets Six Days on the Road.
Our bi-weekly tile spotlight zeroes in on the world of pre-Depression tiles manufactured in the Golden State, the home of The Grateful Dead and Merle Haggard and Fender guitars, the muse of Steinbeck and Didion: we’re going to California (with an aching in our hearts, flowers in our hair, etc.). Batchelder, Claycraft, and AETCo. Faience all make an appearance! Be sure to check them out below.
We’ll be back a-cluttering your inbox in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, send some love (or donate) to the good folks in the Southeast reeling from Hurricane Helene. Y’all be safe out there.
