These gorgeous mauve figural tiles are an early example of Trent Tile Works pottery out of Trenton, New Jersey. Each tile measures 3x3" and features a figural repeating floral or greenery design.
These tiles came from a gorgeous 1880s Chicago property and were lovingly salvaged before the wrecking ball came for it.
The Trent Tile Company was first organized as the Harris Manufacturing Company, c. 1882, but soon had its name changed to Trent. By 1892 Trent operated 20 kilns--including six round biscuit kilns and upwards of a dozen enameling or English muffle kilns. By 1910 employed 300 workers.
The rich mauve glaze pools in lower parts of the design, creating a striking colorway. This tile can be used in a surround or hearth design, in a kitchen or bathroom, or framed to enjoy as home decor.
